Fusion News 3.9 Undergoing Testing

An update for you all - Fusion News 3.9 is complete and is now undergoing internal testing. We estimate that this testing should be finished in the time range of the end of October to mid-November.The upgrade script still requires some work done to it, and this will require additional testing. When the time comes, a topic will be made so that people can register their interest in helping with testing the upgrade script. Here's a few changes in 3.9:Added option to show/remove news pagination.Added option to change method of news pagination.Added option to delete comments that are waiting to be validated.Added ability to include addons (send, archive, comments, search, etc) directly into a page.Added new field masks ({post_id}, {cat_id}, {cat_icon}, {cat_name} for various templates.Added FAQ section to Help/Update page.Added flip news feature to archived news.Added new setting to choose the format of the Post-Per-Day date.As well as a range of bug fixes and improvements. And thank you for being so patient with us!

Fusion News Progress

It's been a while since the last update, so I'd thought I'd make one now. I've decided that with the vast number of changes and additions, the next version will be 3.9. Unfortunately, I haven't done as much as I would have liked to because of other commitments and projects. Also, we're looking for anyone who would be willing to help out with Fusion News 3, and possibly 4. Covenant doesn't know the 3.x code well enough to help me, so it's just me at the moment working on it. If anyone would like to help out, please send me a PM using the forum. There will be a few tasks before letting you become a developer, so I know how well you understand the Fusion News 3.x code, and the way you've implemented whatever task that is asked of you. Before sending though, there are a few requirements:Must be able to use PHP4 (PHP5 if you wish to help out with Fusion News 4)Must know the Fusion News 3.x code fairly wellSelf-motivated; at least to the point that you don't rely on others to force you to do work ~ Blackshadow

Fusion News 4 Development Update

Just wanted to let you guys know that now we're done with exams development on Fusion News 4 is now back underway, and we're making good progress. Currently we're working on the User system (we assure you that login loops are a thing of the past) and from there our next big task is the actual news posting. Once that's done we might consider releasing a preview (alpha) version so you can see what the new bits of interface look like. For now, here's a sneak preview of the new control panel skin (the logo of which you can see at the top of the main site already).

Follow Up

As Dannob has already said, Covenant and I are currently extremely busy with school work, and revising for our upcoming exams (in 4 weeks), so we have very little time to answer questions even if we do get around to reading the topics you make. I myself am trying to reply to some topics at least twice a week, so I'm sorry if there is a slight delay between your initial asking date and my reply. Also as a result of these busy times, we've not had as much time as before on working on 4.0. I've been trying to work on the fixes for 3.8 as much as I can, but for those who want to upgrade to 3.8, I'd advise that you stay with 3.7.6 for now, until I am able to completely fix everything, and get it back to the standards that Fusion News is known for.We would be very grateful if anyone would be willing to help with the support forums.ThanksAlex

Support issue

I've noticed that some people who make a new support thread get upset when we don't respond within a few hours. I just wanted to let you guys know that we do read each and every thread. If we don't respond right away it might be because we are not sure of the solution to your problem or because it has been reported before and properly addressed on the forums. Also, we are busy with school most of the time, and Fusion news is being developed mostly as a hobby. That's not to say that we don't care about the project, we just don't have all the time that we need to support it properly. When we do have time, we answer every support thread, and address every issue and ideas that you guys come up with. And when the developers have extra time, they are hard at work coding Fusion news 4.0, which is a very important version for us, and one that is going to revolutionize Fusion news , it's going to have a ton of new features, just wait and see . You can keep track of Fusion news 4.0 by visiting http://cia.vc/stats/project/fnews Anyway, I just wanted to address that issue. And rest assure that we are trying to fix the bug reports that are being reported.

I've fiddled with the layout some more, added some background images and stuff. You can also choose which side the navigation is on. If it starts off on the left and jumps to the right, I'm sorry, but there's no real way round that. To change it, click the icon by "Navigation" or choose "Normal: Right Navigation" in the skins dropdown.Any comments or suggestions?

New Layout

Hi,My first post here is about the new layout the site is now using. Most of developers hated Dan's cloud thing anyway, and this is a version we are much happier with. It should work with Firefox and IE7, but will probably look a little odd in IE6. As the paragraph above reminds you, you should always use the latest version of whatever browser you chose. It hasn't been tested in other browsers, bit if you do use another browser and it works, drop me a PM.The links that aren't crossed out work, those that are are things we are planning and working on to get ready. Thanks,Covenant

Happy Holidays

This is the new Fusionnews.net website, formerly known as Fusionphp.net. Fusion News has been through some rough times during the past months, so hopefully this is a rebirth for this wonderful script When we were setting up the new layout, we were thinking of you guys. The users. Our goal has always been to provide a user friendly experience, starting with the main website and continuing with our scripts. This way, you are never 'lost', and enjoy every minute that you spend on our site. The layout has a clean navigation system which allows you get the information that you need without having to 'dig' through pages and pages of links. If you have been following us for the past year or so, you probably noticed that we no longer have links to our previous scripts. We have stopped developing the following scripts: Fusion Contact, Fusion Poll, Fusion Shout Out Box, and Fusion Review. We no longer support them either. For now, Fusion News is the only script we are developing and supporting. The scripts mentioned above might make a comeback later next year, but for now they have been canceled. Thanks to Covenant (newest addition to the team) we now have a Fusion news Wiki. What is a Wiki? Think Wikipedia.com. It is basically a way for You, the user, to contribute to the community. We are going to use it to plan the development of Fusion News in a much more professional way. It will also have guides for Fusion News, such as How-To, step-by-step guides and much more. Only admins can edit the Wiki, but later next year, you will be able to register an account and be able to contribute to the community by editing any of the user created page. We will have more information on this soon. The developers are currently planning the development of Fusion news 4, the long awaited version of Fusion news. Fusion news 4 will be a much more friendly script with many new features. More information on this as it becomes available. We will continue to add/patch new features to the current 3.x.x versions of Fusion news. You can expect quick fixes/patches almost every 4 weeks. If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to visit our Forums and we will reply within 24 hours. If you need to contact us, visit the Contact Us Page to contact the person that can best assist you. That is all for now. I hope you guys enjoy the new site. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year .
